William Tumlin, director of the East Alabama Skills Center in Gadsden(The Center administers
the Jobs Training Partnership Act Programs in East Alabama including Talladega County) stated:
"When Haynes showed the textbook to me, it was obvious that it was an outstandingly simple
textbook reference on complicated mathematical problems found in outside construction
applications of mathematical formulas.
"His Applications are wonderful shortcuts that anyone can use with any math training at all.
His applications can help construction workers, farmers, landscapers, heavy equipment operators, haulers, etc., solve problems they run into every day."
Tumlin said most reference and resource materials for mathematical problems in construction
are written for engineers and professional surveyors. "His book has the same kind of solutions
but they are in laymen's terms, this is what makes it so different. The solutions are in simple
applications to solve complicated problems."
The director of the center explained when he saw Haynes's book he knew it was a different
resource book for construction. It was submitted to the state office for Tumlin's Program. Tumlin said the text will be used in Job training Programs across the state where applicable and in other vocational and technical training programs in the state which teach construction mathematics.
"This text turns complicated construction mathematics into arithmetic anyone can understand."
Daily Home - Talladega, Al
The author has spent all his adult life in different phases of the construction industry.
Having no formal education in higher mathematics, he found it necessary to solve complex problems in a simple way. This book represents all those years of acquired knowledge and experience. The contents has been proof read by a graduate engineer with multiple degrees, who was totally amazed at its simplicity and accuracy. The book allows a person with limited or no training to perform advanced math problems with ease.
